Description Arcata Associates, Inc. is an engineering services and information technology company supporting NASA and the DoD. We currently have the following opening:

Essential Functions:
1. Performs systems maintenance and operations. Applies comprehensive technical knowledge to solve complex problems by interpreting manufacturers’ manuals or similar documents.
2. As technician/operator, applies technical knowledge in troubleshooting, isolating malfunctions, repairing to the component level, and incorporating engineering changes. Work typically requires detailed understanding of the interrelationships of analog, digital, mechanical and RF operating system diagnostics and circuits. Exercises some independent judgment on tasks such as making circuit analysis, calculating waveforms, and tracing relationships in signal flow. Uses complex test instruments such as pulse generators, spectrum analyzers, distortion analyzers and computer analytical equipment.
3. Provides technical guidance to lower level technicians/operators.
4. Designated alternate Laser System Safety Observer (LSSO) and alternate live drop safety observer.
5. Performs organizational and intermediate level maintenance on assigned equipment. Work may be reviewed by a supervisor for compliance with accepted practices.
6. Must be cross trained and qualified to operate at least two additional systems.

Work Environment, Physical and Mental Demands:
Range environment. Ability to work outdoors. Ability to climb and descend towers while carrying equipment. Ability to operate computers. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Requirements Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required for this Position:
High School diploma or high school equivalency. Formal classroom education equivalent to Navy “C" school or vocational school with formal training in the field of electronic equipment maintenance.

At least 2 years of related experience in the following:
• Digital/Analog signal processing
• Digital communications networks
• Weapons Delivery Scoring Systems (WISS, Acousti-score, LSTSS, IWTS, BDA, etc.)
• Synchro-servo circuits
• Electromechanical devices
• Video surveillance systems
• Intrusion Detection Systems (active and passive)
• Video signal processing and recording
• Communications (multiplexer equipment, VHF, UHF, microwave, fiber optic)
• Digital/analog computer systems
• DC power supplies, portable AC generators
• Test equipment
• Optical equipment
• Low voltage AC equipment
• Primary and secondary power equipment
• Auto transfer (UPS) equipment
• Computer Neworking (TCP/IP, Routers, etc).

Required Certifications:

• May be required to obtain and maintain Safety At Heights climber certification.
• May be required to obtain and maintain COMSEC certification.
• Must maintain Laser Safety certification.
• Must maintain current CPR and First Aid certifications.

Ability to obtain and maintain a Government Secret Security Clearance.
Ability to obtain and maintain a valid state driver’s license.
